About Wendy
Wendy's mother Molly Vidler was well known in Hastings as a dancer, singer and actress before she married Donald Cameron who was a cartoonist and artist for the local paper. Before his death Donald was made a Freeman of the City of London for his drawings in City newspapers.
Wendy's grandmother was a Battenberg and her grandfather was a Colonel in the Indian Army.
Wendy Cameron followed in her mother's footsteps by being a pupil and teacher at the
Phyllis Godfrey School of Dancing and subsequently won most of the classes she entered at the Hastings festivals including the Bronze, Silver and Gold medals and the prestigious exhibition award when she was only seven. On four occasions Wendy was All England Champion and at sixteen, she left Phyllis Godfrey with her Advanced Ballet, Modern, Tap and National Association membership of the L.S.T.D. with distinction inter R.A.D. certificate and Associate Diploma of the Ballet I.S.T.D.
Madame Legat wrote and offered her a free place at her school at Goudhurst where Madame told Wendy she had similar qualities to Anna Pavlova who was her husband's partner for many years.
