The majority of visitors to Malmesbury go to the magnificent Abbey and the famous Abbey House gardens but are then at a loss as to what else the town has to offer. The beautiful Market Cross - the sight of which is worth a journey of hundreds of miles (William Cobbett) - might tempt you to visit the wide variety of High Street shops and pubs but you probably finish there.
This book fills the void by inviting you to take two walks through the town. A description of the people and events associated with past and present buildings is provided, illustrated by numerous maps and plans together with over 80 black and white photographs. A quarter of the photographs have not been previously published.
Having guided many groups around the town, the author has given in to demand to commit the detail to paper.
