Safety Wear is a Serious Business

By Lolita Brown

According to Health and Safety figures in Britain, every 25 minutes someone breaks of fractures a bone at work. Last year alone, a shocking 45,749 people were injured in the work place, which does beg the question as to whether we are taking the correct precautions?

Although many would argue that we are on the verge of living in a permanent nanny state, but the facts are clear and something really needs to be done.

Every week someone dies from a slip, fall or trip at work and the cost is now increasing. Although every industry has a price tag for these accidents, the construction and building industry cost the British society £139 million last year for injuries caused whilst at work.

Although the cost is transparent, what it not, is the emotional affect that these injuries have on families and the individual workers.

It is imperative that when in the work place, especially when on a construction site or equally unpredictable area, that precautions are taken and safety wear and protective gear be worn at all times.

There seems to be some sort of mis-preconception that work wear has to be expensive and so the trend is to not bother, but then with such alarming statics being published all of the time, why are so many going without. Work wear and Safety Gear is not as expensive as once thought and there are plenty of great companies that offer a wide range of products at affordable prices. Davro Online, for one, has a huge range for whatever size your wallet and is doing what it can to combat accidents in the work place.
